2008 December 1

Crew control just called, my Kathmandu is delayed, maybe 45 mins or so, so I have some extra time to write. It would be sooo great if the delay was long enough to fall out-of-hours! Normally I’d be irritated to be fully dressed and ready like this and then to end up not flying.. but this is a long turnaround (four hour flight), and I can bet I’ll be exhausted by the end of it.

December already!! I have decided to start a very typical resolution now (rather than Jan 1st), so I’ll be well on the way to achieving it come 2009. Better that way, no? I also a large red Moleskin to start the year off with.

I just remembered this.. kind of unrelated to anything else, but.. a Chinese girl (crew) told me she never goes ‘home’ to Beijing, because the Chinese government has a fee for the airline, for any nationals coming into the country on a working flight. Sounds sad, but not for her.. I don’t think she cares, she’s like me.. indifferent to her country of origin. :)

I had my hair coloured and cut in KL, just a trim really, and a non-descript ash brown. I found Thomas Sabo at Suria KLCC too – obviously then, I had to get a second charm for my bracelet. :) The hotel room was lovely – most of the Asian ones are. There were large sliding shutters opening up the two rooms, so you could take a bath in a huge tub and still enjoy the hotel view, or watch tv etc.

I was very happy to see people riding their scooters all over the sidewalks, jostling with pedestrians in the sticky sunshine. Revisiting a city is just as good as seeing it for the first time. Experiencing a familiarity that’s only just forming. Like an old friend, that isn’t really old, you just met them a few times before but really, really liked them.

I wonder, every so often, if the other crew see places the way I do?
